Using Azure File Services to store application configuration files for Azure RemoteApp

By |May 10th, 2016|

Consider the following scenario; You are a small organization and most of your line of business applications are SaaS or web based. You want to embrace BYOD to help employees to be productive on the devices they love and have access to company applications at any time from any location. With all your applications being SaaS and web based this is relatively easy. However, what if still need to support 2 or 3 Windows Applications that you want to manage centrally. Azure RemoteApp seems to be ideal for that use case! With Azure RemoteApp there is no need to setup [...]

Publish applications to specific users in Azure RemoteApp! Here's my experience!

By |March 4th, 2016|

What is this about? This is a feature many have been waiting for! What is it all about? Consider the following scenario. You have created an Azure RemoteApp collection housing several applications. You provide access to this Azure RemoteApp collection to your users. These users could be working in several departments, and based on their role or persona require different sets of applications. An important caveat to realize is that currently all users who have been granted access to an Azure RemoteApp collection will see all application published in that collection! And of course this does not mean that you cannot prevent users from actually opening that [...]

Office 365 activation issue on RDS running Office 365 Click2run (C2R) with Shared Activation (0x80004005)

By |April 1st, 2015|

Consider the following scenario An RDS environment that hosts one or more RDSH servers with Office 2013 Click 2 Run installed. Shared activation has been enabled Federation is not in place so activation relies on a user activating manually once by entering his O365 credentials Registry value NoDomainUser is configured to 1 (Advised by Microsoft in case of the scenario above) also see  https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2913639 A new user who doesn’t have a profile yet, logs on for the first time and launches an Office application for the first time and gets prompted with the Office 365 activation screen. This is expected [...]

Remote Desktop Gateway Pluggable Authentication and Authorization Sample

By |April 1st, 2014|

With the release of Windows Server 2012 R2, Microsoft added a new feature for the RD Gateway role called Pluggable Authentication. “…Remote Desktop Gateway pluggable authentication. Both customers and partners asked for a more flexible way to authenticate users connecting from the Internet. RD Gateway pluggable authentication allows custom authentication routines to be used with RD Gateway. This can provide custom two-factor authentication and works seamlessly with Remote Desktop Web Access (RD Web Access) or RDP file resource launching (even when using third-party browsers with RD Web Access)…” Source: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/rds/archive/2013/07/09/what-s-new-in-remote-desktop-services-for-windows-server-2012-r2.aspx In addition to that, Microsoft released sample code to explain [...]
